The story

The Ávila fills almost the whole canvas: a broad ridge of green and bluish slopes, cut by shadowed ravines, with a low, warm raking light gilding the hillsides. At its foot the city spreads as a band of buildings, and, nearer, in the middle ground, a cluster of towers rises among green hills.

Below, tall grass and a few shrubs with orange flowers close the scene; the sky is blue, with pale clouds on both sides of the peak. The signature is at the lower right, in red.

Why this work?

This untitled work (2006), signed S. Alexander, is an acrylic on canvas measuring 81 × 140 cm: the Ávila in raking light, the city at its foot and a cluster of towers among green hills, with tall grass in the foreground. A unique, signed work, selected by Pablo Vaca for EL ART DEALER for its panorama of Caracas.

In your space

A wide panorama: it calls for a long stretch of wall, above a sofa or in a dining room.
