The story

The composition is ordered in horizontal bands of flat color running the full width of the sheet: green at the top, then olive, yellow, a reddish orange that darkens towards maroon and, at the foot, an almost black violet. Separated by a strip of blank paper, a band of emphatic blue closes the print below.

Down the centre, exactly on the vertical axis, runs a narrow column that crosses the warm bands and moves from white to blue-grey, to grey, to black. It does not break the symmetry: it underlines it, and at the same time opens a pocket of depth in an otherwise entirely flat image.

Everything is resolved hard-edge: no gradients, no texture, only fields of uniform ink and the clean cuts between them. Along the lower margin, in pencil, run the number on the left and the signature with the date «96» on the right.

Why this work?

This untitled work (1996), signed F. C. Bazrrigach, is a screenprint on paper measuring 72 × 56.8 cm: horizontal bands of flat color — green, olive, yellow, reddish orange, maroon and an almost black violet — with a blue band at the foot, crossed by a central column that runs from white to black. Edition 2/200, signed and dated in pencil. It was selected by Pablo Vaca for EL ART DEALER for its geometric clarity and saturated color.

In your space

Its flat color and vertical format work well in contemporary interiors: a white dining-room or office wall, or in series with another geometric print.

About the artist

F. C. Bazrrigach

Biographical details to be confirmed · Geometric screenprinting

«F. C. Bazrrigach» is how the collection's inventory reads the handwritten signature in the margin; on the print itself the stroke is cursive and does not allow confirmation. We have not been able to document this artist through public sources. Of the work in the collection one can say what is visible: a 1996 screenprint, edition 2/200, in hard-edge geometric abstraction.
