The story

«Corteza dinámica» is a relief that carries painting into tactile territory: a rough slab, its surface cracked like bark, unfolds in a gradient running from blue to white to green. Matter takes the lead here, with grooves and ridges that catch the light and cast small shifting shadows depending on the viewer's angle.

Carlos Ramos builds the piece in mixed media on pasteboard (cartón piedra) and sets it diagonally on a gray panel, housed within a box that frames it and lends it depth. The oblique mounting introduces tension and movement, hence the «dynamic», while the square format draws the eye to the interplay of texture and color.
