El trueno

At the left, a black mass with a funnel raises a plume of grey smoke that opens upward: it carries the silhouette of a locomotive. From it, a dark horizontal body extends to the right across almost the whole canvas, and at the centre a white vertical column rises, like a jet of steam.

Across the upper half, a dense rain of orange, blue and white dots fills the air and gathers around the machine, tighter the closer it comes. Below the scene runs a metallic grey band with a line of dots, and on it three small red carts on spoked wheels. From the top edge drop very fine vertical threads; from two of them hangs a small striped ball. The spinning tops float free in the air.

The lower band is a curtain of vertical runs — blue, brown, white and one red at the right — falling from the band to the edge of the canvas and returning the scene to liquid matter. The work is signed at the lower right and comes on unstretched canvas.
