The story
This untitled piece organizes its surface in an optical-kinetic language: at the center, a luminous green sphere is built from concentric circles and ellipses that create the illusion of volume and of a beating pulse. Around and behind it, a regular grid of red, blue and green dots vibrates across the canvas and activates the gaze, so that the image seems to shift with the distance and angle from which it is seen.
José Manrique works the acrylic on canvas with almost geometric precision, entrusting the effect to the repetition of the dot and the modulation of color. The square format — 140 × 140 cm — reinforces the centering of the sphere and the balance of the mesh.
