"Serie Repeticiones Geométricas" in a room
Room view — approximate scale on a 3.2 m wall

The story

A pale square, framed in a white box, holds a grid of small blocks in relief, fourteen rows by fourteen columns, each casting its shadow to the left.

The grid divides into four quadrants. In two of them, upper left and lower right, the blocks show their pale face; in the other two they show a grey face with a blue edge, so that the square seems to turn depending on where it is seen from.

Why this work?

«Serie Repeticiones Geométricas» (2014), by Ben Abounassif, is a mixed media work measuring 25 × 25 cm: a grid of blocks in relief divided into four quadrants that alternate pale faces with grey, blue-edged ones, in a white box. A unique piece, selected by Pablo Vaca for EL ART DEALER for its optical play in a small format.

In your space

It needs side light, which is what draws the shadows: a hallway or a study with a window to one side.
