The story

This untitled piece unfolds a landscape of wide breath: a range of mist-wrapped mountains, reminiscent of El Ávila, rises at the back, while the foreground opens onto a plain of warm tones. Between the two, a slender band lets the sea and the profile of a city show through, articulating the painting's depth in successive planes.

Armando Villalón works here in mixed media, shaping the atmosphere through glazes and shifts of light that soften the mountains' edges and give the fog its density. The register is realistic, yet the painterly gesture favors the feel of air and distance over detail, in a horizontal format that reinforces the sweep of the terrain.

Why this work?

This untitled work (2003) by Armando Villalón is a mixed-media painting of 80 × 120 cm that resolves, in a realist key, a landscape of misty mountains, a warm plain, and a distant strip of sea and city. A signed, one-of-a-kind piece in a horizontal, wall-filling format, selected by Pablo Vaca for EL ART DEALER for its command of atmosphere and depth.

In your space

Its horizontal format and serene palette of greens, ochres and hazy blues make it ideal to preside over a wide living- or dining-room wall, where the landscape can breathe. It brings calm and a sense of horizon to neutral-toned interiors.
