The story
A woman's face, seen from the front, fills the centre: greenish eyes outlined in black, red lips and a fringed head of hair in oranges, yellows and reds, drawn in long lines of color that in places run downward.
The background is an intense blue, laid around the head in visible strokes. The signature «DAVID Acosta» is at the lower right, in dark red.
According to Pablo Vaca, the work was a birthday gift from David Acosta; the collection's inventory records the dedication «con afecto Pablo Vaca en su cumpleaños» (with affection, Pablo Vaca, on his birthday), which is not written on the work itself.
Why this work?
«Estudio rostro» (2014), by David Acosta, is a glass paint on card in a 35.9 × 28 cm frame (frame size; the work itself is smaller, still to be measured): a woman's face seen from the front, with orange hair and red lips, on an intense blue ground. A unique, signed work, selected by Pablo Vaca for EL ART DEALER for the direct gaze of the portrait.
In your space
A small piece with a direct gaze: it gains in a close corner, a study or a narrow entrance.

About the artist
David Acosta
Venezuela · Figurative painting
David Acosta is a painter with a figurative, narrative streak: scenes of crowds and urban characters, resolved with firm drawing and saturated color, often in glass paint, which leaves the color translucent. He lived in Copenhagen in the early 1980s, according to Pablo Vaca, and four of his works in this collection are signed there: two in 1980, one in 1983 and one in 1985.
