The story
«La Fiesta» gathers a crowd of characters in full celebration. Among them a man in a green uniform and several women stand out, while a dog on a chain and a polka-dotted floor complete the scene. The composition is dense and populated: each figure takes its place in a festive, choral atmosphere.
Acosta handles acrylic with a direct figurative language of clear outlines and flat color, giving the scene the air of a popular print. The large format heightens the sense of bustle and multitude. The work, signed, invites a slow reading to discover each character.
Why this work?
«La Fiesta» (2006), by David Acosta, is an acrylic on canvas in a 123 × 153 cm frame (frame size; the canvas itself is smaller, still to be measured): a figurative celebration scene with a crowd of characters, a man in a green uniform, women, a chained dog and a polka-dotted floor. A unique, signed work, selected by Pablo Vaca for EL ART DEALER for its choral narrative and its large-wall format.
In your space
Its broad, landscape format and populated scene call for a generous wall in a dining room or living room, where the eye can wander across it at leisure.

About the artist
David Acosta
Venezuela · Figurative painting
David Acosta is a painter with a figurative, narrative streak: scenes of crowds and urban characters, resolved with firm drawing and saturated color, often in glass paint, which leaves the color translucent. He lived in Copenhagen in the early 1980s, according to Pablo Vaca, and four of his works in this collection are signed there: two in 1980, one in 1983 and one in 1985.
