The story
A horse walks to the left with its head lowered and its mane blowing. Its whole body, a pale blue, is covered by a lattice of white triangles, like a mesh laid over the skin, and only the muzzle and hooves are dark.
The ground behind is a mosaic of square patches in blue, violet and pink, and the floor a run of horizontal bands. Blue spheres of different sizes roll across it. The signature «David Acosta» is at the right, beside the tip of the tail.
Why this work?
«Pequeño caballo azul», by David Acosta, is an acrylic on canvas measuring 70 × 100 cm (recorded as the frame size; the canvas is still to be measured): a pale blue horse covered in a lattice of white triangles, against a mosaic of blue patches and a banded floor with spheres. A unique, signed work on unstretched canvas, selected by Pablo Vaca for EL ART DEALER for its blue and the drawing of the mesh.
In your space
The dominant blue calls for a pale wall: a bedroom, a study or a quiet living room.

About the artist
David Acosta
Venezuela · Figurative painting
David Acosta is a painter with a figurative, narrative streak: scenes of crowds and urban characters, resolved with firm drawing and saturated color, often in glass paint, which leaves the color translucent. He lived in Copenhagen in the early 1980s, according to Pablo Vaca, and four of his works in this collection are signed there: two in 1980, one in 1983 and one in 1985.
